Engaging Scripture is more than acquiring and cataloging information. Effective Scripture engagement<\/a> is when you personally interact with the Bible’s stories, poems, songs, history, principles, and lessons so that you discern the text speaking to you by the power of the Holy Spirit<\/a>, enabling you to get beyond the printed page and hear the voice of God, and discover for yourself the unique claim Jesus Christ is making upon you.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Bible itself teaches us how we’re to approach God\u2019s Word. It uses such vocabulary as \u201cmeditate\u201d (Psalm 1:2<\/a>; Joshua 1:8<\/a>), \u201creflect\u201d (2 Timothy 2:7<\/a>), \u201clook intently\u201d (James 1:25<\/a>), \u201cdwell\u201d (Colossians 3:16<\/a>), \u201cponder\u201d (Psalm 119:95<\/a>), \u201cconsider\u201d (Jeremiah 2:31<\/a>), and even \u201ceat\u201d (Jeremiah 15:16<\/a>). These words describe Scripture engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
